Houston VA National Cemetery Ordered to Allow Prayers
The VFW declared victory today in the Federal Lawsuit (Rainey v VA) filed over allegations of religious hostility and unlawful
censorship at the Houston National Cemetery.
Federal District Judge Lynn N. Hughes signed a consent decree ordering the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to:
•
lift the ban on prayer and the word “God” at national cemeteries
•
revoke national policies hostile to religion
•
reopen the Chapel at the Houston VA National Cemetery (Its identity had been changed to a "meeting facility.")

Congress looks to Cut 10 Key Programs
Our leaders in Congress are actually considering cutting 10 critical benefits that affect our nation's service members, veterans
and their families. VFW is calling it the “10 for 10” plan—cutting 10 benefits to pay for 10 years of war.

This move to reduce or eliminate benefits earned by our military and veterans is eerily like what happened after Korea and
Vietnam. Once the government is done with us they are more than willing to balance their budgets on the pain and suffering
of those who actually fought their wars. Don’t let them get away with it. Speak out and sign the petitions.
